Larch Virgin in private house

We recently got pictures of a nice done projects in an US American Ski Chalet. The owner wanted to do the whole house with the mafi Larch Virgin, brushed, natural oiled.
Combined with the stone walls and the fire place a special natural atmosphere was created. We think that this is a very nice project.

The mafi Larch floors are not only the most hard wearing conifer floors it is also a floor that can be brushed very good. This will provide you a very soft and warm walking on the floor and a slightly massage effect.

The minimalism is an architecture style which distinguishes itself  through its easy use of forms and through the reunciation of decoration elements. Concret lines and geometrical forms of the layout as well as a reduction of the interior decoration to the basic are amin targets of minimalism. But how to get all these minamilstic, grey and concreted architecture into a warm and cosy living atmosphere? mafi delivers the new trend for minimalism…

Especially the lye-treated, white oile larch wide plank is ideal to create feelings with wooden floors in modern and minimalism objects without destroying them. mafi processed basically larches which surfaces are treated solely with oil, consists of absolutely pure, renewable raw materials and is bio-degradable. mafi intentionally disassociates itself from lacquer and wood surface coating so that every floor stays breathable, can regulate the rooms moisture and purify the air. This means that all natural advantages, such as warmth and a pleasant atmoshere are preserved. Soaping the floors will keep all the attributes and will make teh larch more and more resistant against dirt and stains. So the floor will get a patina with every year of living on it. In Greece the mafi larch is already used for over 12 years for modern objects. The mafi conifer wood is particularly in the cold season appreciated because of its natural warmth of the wood. One of the current projects is a 350 SQM private house in the Caribbean and a minimalistic design in the swiss alps where they used the mafi Larch wide plank for creating special athomsphere.

Design exhibition in Mexico

We recently got pictures of a very brilliant done project in Mexico.

The architects Rafael Rivera and Javier Claverie used the mafi Oak brushed natural oil not only for some of the floors but also for a very nice wall covering.

wood – human – health / mafi floors for clinical practices

It’s not a secret anymore that wood as a natural material is in a very unique constellation with human and health. As long as the wood is left in a natural way and not is laquered it can spread all the positive benefits that comes with nature.

Fritz Fillafer, founder and CEO of mafi, knows a lot of  wooden floors and characteristics. He was interviewed in an Austrian floor magazine where he stated that wooden floors are perfect for clinical practices where hygienic standards are very high. Fillafer proved the theory with tests and papers by the Institute of Building Biology and Ecology Neubeuern, Germany and the Institute for Environmental Medicine and Hospital Hygiene at the University Freiburg, Germany.

Due to the fact that more bacterias are able to survive on plastic materials than on wood, a dentist in Switzerland already installed a mafi floor instead of typical “hygienic” plastic floors. Even if Pines are especially recommandable also the Tigeroak in the swiss practice is proper for clinical use.

• free from static electricity
• diffusibility
• warmer feeling beacuase of brushed and oiled finish (compared to all other surfaces and finishes)
