mafi was the first Company in the Industry to decide for a lacquer-free, completely naturally oiled flooring surface. The Oils used are wholly based on natural raw materials. These natural properties support the wood by preserving and highlighting its natural qualities.

The time of Salzburg Festival always creates a cosmopolitan and glamorous aura around Salzburg. mafi takes account to this situation and presents one of the newest innovations in natural wood flooring:
THE MAFI CATWALK.
Located in the Imbergstraße 9, the mafi flagshipstore exhibits this eye-catcher in its shop window. The design is inspired by the mafi Tiger oak – another innovation introduced by mafi – but the cracks are lighted with a specific LED module. With an included remote control the colours can range from deep red to dark blue or run through different automatic programs as well. These individual possibilities attract outstanding interest for commercial areas like bars, nightclubs or hotels.
This unique floor combines all the attributes mafi stands for. The wood is treated completely natural, only with mafi oil, which gives the floor its great resistance but also keeps the wood breathable and therefore allows the floor to regulate the moisture inside the rooms. On the other hand mafi catwalk proofs the innovative character of the mafi products by unifying technique and design.
The mafi Flagshipstore is located in the heart of Salzburg directly on the river Salzach with a beautiful view on the old centre of the city with the fortress in the background. In times that are increasingly influenced by stress and hectic, one’s own bathroom soon becomes a personal spa oasis – a place to rest and relax. Quality materials are used in the bathroom not only as part of its exclusive furnishings but as an important element towards harmony and relaxation of the senses. The choice of floor plays a major role in this process. As manufacturer of natural wood floors from Upper Austria whose name is already established on the international lifestyle sector, mafi provides quality floors in various designs which can help to create an individual feel-good paradise.
Due to the oiled surface mafi floors are able to absorb the moisture that occurs in the bathroom and dispense this again during the drying process. This has a positive effect on the climate in the room. The water that drips onto the floor when people leave the shower or bathtub poses no problem at all for a mafi floor. Large pools of water on the floor should however be mopped up. To ensure that the mafi floor remains permanently natural and brilliant and flawless despite sporadic splashes of water, regular care with adequate products is a must.
The right choice of wood
Care must be taken in the selection of wood as not every type of wood is suitable for use in bathrooms. Beech, for example, is one of the types of wood that shrink and swell considerably in damp surroundings. This is what is also known as ‛the wood’s expansion and contraction’. An exception is heat-treated beech wood as this process changes the shrinkage properties of the wood and increases its resistance to moisture. Larch and oak both react ideally to moisture and are naturally suited for use in wet rooms. One more insider tip: floors in bathrooms should be glued with elastic adhesive. The joint with the wall is also very important. This should be made using parquet joint sealing compound to prevent the build-up of moisture behind the wood.
Fresco: creative appearance with massage effect
Taking these aspects into consideration, mafi has developed a floor ideally suited for installation in indoor spa and bathroom areas. We are referring to the mafi Fresco line of floors. In order to really experience the quality and diversity of this floor, installation is recommended in rooms that are mainly entered barefoot. The elaborate finish of the plank surface using different mafi Fresco milling programs not only allows tired soles an invigorating massage break but at the same time provides an unusual look with waves (Fresco Duna), dots (Fresco Punkto) or diamonds (Fresco Rombo). The newest Fresco designs are Fresco Anaconda and Fresco Pista.

The carpentry Bögelsack in Germany has a long tradition of quality and employs different experts in the field of wood construction. Therefore they trust in mafi and their products. As you can see on the picture, they decided to walk on an Oak Country, brushed and natural oiled. Altogether they use 105 sqm of this solid but even so innovative natural wooden floor. The overall picture becomes very harmonious because of the right direction of the installation. The continuous chain of windows and with that associated, the incidence of light strongly suggests this solution of installation in the same direction.
Additionally, a platform is designed in a Tiger Oak white, brushed and natural oiled. Even though the raw material is oak again, the colour is completely different. Because of the thermo-treatment the wood is getting darker but also heightens the resistance to fungi and insects. Dimensional stability is also increased whereas the expansion, contraction and inner tension are reduced. The sliding door is revetted with the same Tiger Oak white to provide a homogeneous image. This example can also be taken as a demonstration that even different mafi products have a balanced appearance together.

A perfect example of this is Tiger Oak with it’s irregular stripes that achieve an incomparably unique surface. With it’s vivid colour accents in black, cream, silver, gold or violet the luxury floor radiates an immensely sensuous lustre. Our partner in Russia used Tiger Oak different for a private house.
In every room is an other colour for the stripes of the Tiger Oak or an other oil. In the living room is the mafi Tiger Oak cream color filler brushed natural oil, while the violet color filler brushed white oil is in a bedroom of the house. Also you can see on the pictures that in the bedroom is a black color filler Tiger Oak install.
Tiger Oak is not only extremely decorative it is as hard-wearing and easy to clean as all mafi natural wooden floors.
