Optical enlargement with mafi wide planks

mafi was one of the first companies, that were able to produce wide planks up to five meters length and maybe the only wooden manufacturer that could provide this planks with the qualities of a three layer floor. Nowadays the wide planks are a typical trademark of mafi floors. The length of four or five meters can be choosen by the customer. The width can range between 155 and 300 mm. Depending on the wood the thickness amounts 19 or 21 mm. mafi wide planks can be manufactured out of larch, fir, beech and oak.

The wide dimensions and varying widths pave the way for influencing the optical appearance of a room or an entire design concept. As you can see on this project in a private house in Switzerland the differing widths let the hallway appear much more generously. Paired with an intelligent installation considering the incidence of light and walking direction this mafi Oak Country wide plank, brushed and natural oiled sets a harmonious base for a pleasant private home. The material mix between the sprayed concrete on the walls and the glass in front of the fireplace incorporates in the overall picture in an authentic way.

mafi insists on color diversity and not on uniformity

Posted: August 17th, 2011 | Author: ibuchacher | Filed under: interior design, private houses, references | Tags: , , , , , , , | No Comments »

A mafi Oak Vulcano captivates not only with its dimensional stability or its resistance. In particular this natural wooden floor convinces with its range of warm, brown colors. The typical color differences in a thermo-treaded floor are part of the natural mafi philosophy of the conservation of natural resources. The natural color of wood is influenced by the climatic environment of the tree. Seasons, altitude, weather conditions and the culture medium of the soil where the tree grows influence the appearance of the wood. Depending on the type of wood, the age of the tree when harvested is 100 – 200 years. To ensure a sustainable use of natural resources, the wood is therefore always harvested in different growing regions and replaced by a new seedling.

This private house in Switzerland is a perfect example of an optimal use of this color differences inside a home concept. The variety of brown shades creates a cordial and warm atmosphere inside every room. Due to the diverse colours the interior is easy to combine with the floor. Nearly in every accessory one of the brown shades of the floor is integrated. Even the contrast to the white walls and the white furniture appears homogeneous. This is just another example how the natural handling of wood by mafi creates new ideas and concepts in design.

mafi in local newspaper

Posted: August 9th, 2011 | Author: chemetsberger | Filed under: company | Tags: , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

mafi founder and CEO Fritz Fillafer was talking with an Austrian journalist of the Salzburger Nachrichten about recent innovations, upcoming projects and the possibility of creating unique mafi natural wooden tables…
