Now as the project from our partner “Armstrong Korea” with mafi Domino Larch Vulcano is finished we are very proud to present this beautiful Domino Larch wall design. The Domino Larch elements in Seoul are now half a year installed and our partner and especially the customer is very satisfied.

Here you can see the last text about this installation. which was a very complicated solution as of the very humid climate in Korea and the very contrary climate inside the house with and without air condition.

Domino Vulcano elements

Posted: October 11th, 2010 | Author: koan | Filed under: mafi inside | Tags: , , | 1 Comment »

Domino floors combine the advantages of mafi’s Vulcano collection with modern possibilities in design. Many parts form a beautiful whole that will delight you with it’s vividness and style. Made from specially heat treated (=Vulcano) ash or larch.
Domino Vulcano elements are cut as end grain, at tight angles to the trunk. The small blocks (40 x 40mm) are held together on parquet mesh and, when glued to a standard substrate, form a particularly durable floor. Isolated stress cracks and expansion gaps (e.g. due to climatic changes) are possible in the elements and underlines the Naturalness of this unequaled floor.

Loading capacity

The mafi Domino floor in general is one of the most robust floor. Such being the case the floor is really suitable for ateliers, commercial properties, public or commercial areas or even car dealerships. It’s excellent for commercial areas where you need also a floor with a beautiful design as all the small elements create a a very special and smooth mixture of colours.

Example:
In the mafi headquarters the Domino floor is installed in the cabinet maker’s shop where we also drive with fork lifts over it.

Design:

The Domino design is very modern and versatile usable but its important to do the installation with good and with Domino floors experienced installer because of the colour differences and and the moving of wood. The particular effect of the floor is about the diversity of colour.

Availability of domino wood:

Domino floors are available in heat treated Ash Domino elements and in heat treated Larch Domino elements. The floor is delivered unfinished. The surface finish is carried out on site. That means that the installer has to make to surface brushed or sanded and has to oil the floor after installation. There are to different oils available, white and natural.

Important to know:

Installation should be carried out only by experts, under strict observation of the special instructions for installation.

mafi Domino – Construction site Korea

We received pictures from a fantastic project in South Korea the other day. It is done by our partner  “Armstrong Korea”. They are developing a Department store in Korea which will be opened in August and installing the mafi Domino Larch Vulcano floor on parts of the wall and ceiling.

The installation looks very good so far. The Korean Installers are working by the rulebook of mafi installation guide. They do a marvellous job on composing the different colour shades in a superb mixture of colours all over the wall and ceiling.
As there is currently no AC which will be as soon as the store will be opened they try to create a similar climate with vans to get the humidity as near as possible to the future conditions to make sure the the installation will be in perfect quality.

Vertical useability of mafi wood

We’ve got some extraordinary pictures of an exclusive apartment in Belgium. The interior designers from the construction company Elbeko were very creative with our Mafi wood. Walnut sanded natural oiled was used for the floor, the stairs, the desk and some shelves in the living room.

The Mafi Fresco Duna white oiled is used in the bedroom. The feeling of walking barefoot on the curved wood is like a gentle feet massage, a perfect feeling to start the day. The finishing touch in this room is the dressing with parts in the same Fresco Duna as the floor.

The Home cinema and bar is designed with the Mafi Domino. This wood blends in perfectly with the purpose of this entertainment room. The bar has a build-in fridge and shelves behind faded glass. Above this there’s a floating shelf with RGB LED lights, they point out the life and richness of the Mafi Domino wood. Across this bar there a unique Mafi furniture to separate the bar of the home cinema.

The fine craftsmanship is from Chris Veschaeve Bvba.

The show was really succefully again. Thanks to everybody for all these nice conversations, evenings, get-togethers, inspirations and moods.
During the exhibition we showed our latest products like Magic Ash and Magic Oak additional to our unique Tigeroak, the Domino Floor, the Red Dot Award honourable mention winner Fresco and other mafi classics.
Another invention we presented on the Maison de Objet was the grey oil. With this unique grey and natural surface we create astonishing floors. The grey oil expands the possibilities of natural oiled, air dryid wooden floors among the natural and white oil.
