Larch Wide-Plank in Austrian Hotel Stanglwirt…

Posted: October 21st, 2011 | Author: ibuchacher | Filed under: hotels, interior design, Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

Along with the natural treatment of the wood, mafi sets the highest standards of quality for wooden floors. Particularly significant is the standard of quality in the symmetrical construction of the 3-Layer flooring: Here the upper and lower layers are constructed of the same material. This procedure ensures an even balance of the flooring and produces high stability.
Quality and Durability are the characteristics of mafi floorings. Due to their extreme load-bearing capacity, they are ideally suited for use in high traffic areas.
The famous Stanglwirt Hotel in Kitzbühel/AUSTRIA has mafi floors since more than 15 years already and is still satisfied and fascinated from the quality and the hard-wearing abiltiy of these floors. Recently they renovated and expanded their Luxurios Resort and used mafi floors in the new rooms as well.
Especially the wide and long dimension of the Larch gives the rooms a special character. The two main characteristics of a mafi wide-plank are the length of four or five meters and a ranging width between 155 and 300mm. Because of the different widths the whole floor appears very lively and enlarges the entire room.

We recently got pictures of a fantastically done project in Lech / Arlberg in one of Austrians best Skiing Resorts. The owners family of the Gasthof Post in Lech outfitted some of their luxurios but very traditional rooms with mafi floors.

It is an outstanding combinations of mafi Larch, brushed and white oiled with a typical traditional and romantic Austrian accommodation style.

Have a look on some of these fantastic pictures.

They even used the mafi floors in the bathrooms what gives you a fantastic feeling on your feet when walking barefoot. To realize a wooden floor in a bathroom you only need a mafi floor and a perfect installation by a professional mafi certified installation team. This installation team made this marvellous installation technique in cascades possible too.

Oak Vulcano in the Hotel Alpina

Posted: October 4th, 2010 | Author: koan | Filed under: hotels | Tags: , , , | 1 Comment »

mafi Oak Vulcano brushed natural oil is not only a heard wearing and warmness spending floor, it is also installed in the big Wellness Hotel Alpina in the “Alpendorf” in St. Johann / Pg. in Austria. They used the mafi Oak Vulcano for a heavily frequented area in the restaurant and the Wellness Area of the Hotel.

What you have to keep in mind if you use a mafi floor for a heavily frequented area…

You have to put felt pads on the chair to get no scratches. In public areas it is important to reoil the floor once a year to give the floor the ingredients it needs to keep the hard wearing surface as beautiful as it was on the first day. With the reoiling small scratches will be gone and the floor will get a saturated colour. It is important to know that for cleaning you have to use  mafi wood floor soap. Never use any other cleaning fluids as the floor’s surface can become washed out and sensitive to dirt as the mafi soap is cleaning and refatting the floor all at once. We recommend working with 2 buckets: 1 bucket with soap mixture and 1 bucket with clear water that is used to rinse the soiled wiping mop; change water frequently.

Advantages for public areas:

Resistance through use of mafi ‘s natural Oil because the Oil penetrates into the wood’s pores where it hardens. After hardening the surface is extremely hard wearing yet stays breathable and open-pore. Because of the open-pore surface the floor is free from static electricity and regulates the air humidity. Then  the regular care with mafi soap the floor increases its natural robustness as the soap contains protective vegetable oils. Small pressure marks will disappear without further treatment when the floor is damp wiped. mafi floors have a lot of positive advantages not only the optical look and uniqueness they are especially long lasting and dimensionally stable in each region of the world.

mafi Larch in Hotel Kitzhof in Kitzbuehl AT

Posted: September 16th, 2010 | Author: koan | Filed under: hotels | Tags: , , , | No Comments »

This is a project in the traditional Hotel Kitzhof in Kitzbuehl with our mafi Larch County Vulcano brushed natural oiled wooden floor. The floor is in the restaurant of the Hotel since 8 years. Larch is the most hard-wearing conifer and therefore getting a charming patina over the years especially in higher frequented area.

We were there to visit the floor after 8 years and the floor still looks very good and beautiful. There is only one plank in front of the lift of the hotel which is strong worn which could easily be repaired or even removed. But as this plank is telling so many historic stories it doesn’t bother anybody not to be changed.
We think a Larch is beautiful for modern and also for traditional areas and it always gives good warmth feeling. mafi floors are not only for the private area also for high frequented areas a clever investment. With correct care the floor is beautiful and good looking for a long time.

Viral marketing with floors. That works?

Posted: June 30th, 2010 | Author: koan | Filed under: mafi magazine | Tags: , , , | No Comments »

In fact you go to a restaurant to enjoy a dinner because of the chef. But the uniqueness of a restaurant can be exponentiated with a unique floor that is perfectly composed in the restaurant and gives the guests a special “wow-effect”. Such a strategic interior investment is not only to feel comfortable it is also a floor that makes the restaurant special and promotes it in a unique way.

The same experience we have had in the hotel business. In the Austrian Alps there is a fantastic hotel with a black lighted purple Tiger Oak in the entrance area which is the classical example of  viral marketing. People walk by and are attracted by the fascinating and unbelievable style. Since the hotel has had this floor they haven’t had any empty rooms, all because of word-of-mouth.
“Actually you can use some of our products not only as unique floors but also as marketing communication tools,” says Harald Maier, CSO of mafi.

mafi Story:
A very neat little hotel in the Austrian Alps decided to lay half of their rooms with mafi floors. Additionally they equipped the entrance and public area with the mafi Tiger Oak to attract attention and make their guests feel special. One and a half years later the owner came back to mafi Flagship store. “It’s crazy but I feel like I have to invest in the other 50% of my rooms with mafi floors as well. My regular guests do not want to go into the rooms with the other floors. Once they enjoyed the warm and cosy feeling of the rooms with your floors, they didn’t want to relinquish this feeling any more. And guess what, I also have to admit that my restaurant guests are talking more about the floor than about the cuisine even though my chef is well known in our region. I have to admit that it was really worth investing in mafi floors. Especially because they are more expensive than other products on the market but are totally different. Finally I decided to also do the rest of my hotel with mafi floors because my customers forced me to.”

mafi Tigeroak in niXe designhotel in Binz/GER

Posted: December 2nd, 2009 | Author: koan | Filed under: hotels, references, restaurants | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

Art nouveau meets contemporary design

The niXe Designhotel” (Binz, Rügen, Germany) is a real gem on the beachfront: the combination of contemporary design and a perfectly matching natural oiled wooden floor inside an art nouveau villa deserves the title “outstanding and amazingly unique”.

We are proud that “The niXe Designhotel” used our “mafi Tigeroak cream color filler, brushed, white oiled” as main floor for their luxury restaurant. Above all they equipped the counter in the hotelbar with a fabulously illuminated Tigeroak. This is a specially made Tigeroak where back light illuminates the whole room through the unfilled cracks of the wood. This makes the ambience very special and delightful.

In the hotel nixe is not only a very good floor, you also get a very good meal. We congratulate the Hotel nixe for his first Michelin Stone.

mafi floors are perfect to be used in restaurants. Because of the open natural oiled wood, the surface is extremely hardwearing. Therefore, mafi floors are also suitable for rooms that are used frequently by the public or for commercial purposes.

mafi Oaks in Wellness Hotel Sackmann in Baiersbronn, GER

Posted: November 3rd, 2009 | Author: koan | Filed under: hotels, references | Tags: , , , , , , | 1 Comment »

The designer Vögele, Freudenstadt in GER, equipped the wellness area from the Hotel Sackmann with about 150m² mafi Tiger Oak white, brushed, natural oil and 150m² Oak Country , brushed, white oil.

The design team used mafi floors in the relaxation room, the corridor and also in the fitness room. Living and working rooms with an natural oiled wooden surface, like mafi floors are, you can enjoy a pleasing atmosphere. The reason for this is, that the open wooden surface can regulate the athmosphere and keep it comfortable within saving and loosing humidity. This is just one of many reason why natural oiled floors make a better living.

It is also possible to fill the cracks of the Tiger Oak in every colour (RAL colour) you would like to have. Please find some examples a few posts below called “Custom Colour for special products”.
