The own four walls are something special, something individual. To fulfill the dream of a perfect home it is important, that all parts fit together. The ground is the foundation and always a large area, to deal with. mafi natural wooden floors are composed into a room, not installed. As you can see on these pictures, this Ash dark Vulcano, brushed and natural oiled is a breathtaking contrast to the straight black and white characteristic. The direction of the installation, against the incidence of light, allows a beautiful play of colours and expands the room additionally. Another possibility to harmonize the room is to use mafi wooden planks for furniture. Based on the great durability and hardiness, mafi wooden planks can also be used as a surface for working areas in the kitchen.
Vulcano in Austria
The fine dark colour of Vulcano floors is achieved by special heat treatment, which means a wood drying system at high temperatures, without the use of any chemicals, using only heat, wind and water. Expansion and contraction as well as inner tension are reduced, while, on the other hand, resistance to fungi and insects is increased. Dimensional stability is also increased. As the floor stays completely natural with this method, it is also essential to shade it from strong sunlight in order to avoid the colour lightening. Because of its dark tan, the mafi volcano floors are a very good ecological and conscientious alternative to tropical wood.

The American Institute of Architects’ self-guided home tours are a neat way to view some of L.A.’s most interesting homes. AIA/LA held its first fall home tour of the year in the 10000 square feet luxury house. In this villa outstanding SPF architects used our mafi wood for some of the rooms. This home tour gives architects and designers the possibility to see perfectly done projects and learn from each others.
After this home tour the SPE architects got a lot of inquires about the natural wooden floor from mafi.

Our partner mafi France sent us these pictures of a private house with mafi Nero Oak, brushed natural oil. The Atelier Baraness and Cawker architects used the Nero Oak for the bedroom and in the kitchen/living room they used the Oak only for a blabala verlegung. We think this is a perfect mixture of materials even though we know that natural oiled wooden floors are much warmer to your feet then tiles and lacquered surfaces.

mafi Nero Oak is a very particular natural wooden floor because Oak wood is thermo-treated and this treatment is the reason why the wood gets so dark, nearly black. We do not use chemical products for the treatment of our wood so the mafi wood gets lighter with the sun and the wood gets a very beautiful colour – a little more brownish. This is what makes the Nero Oak so special. We always say natural wooden floors are so unique. This is also because of the colour differences like you see it on these pictures. The colour differences are different with each floor and therefore not always the same.

We’ve got some extraordinary pictures of an exclusive apartment in Belgium. The interior designers from the construction company Elbeko were very creative with our Mafi wood. Walnut sanded natural oiled was used for the floor, the stairs, the desk and some shelves in the living room.
The Mafi Fresco Duna white oiled is used in the bedroom. The feeling of walking barefoot on the curved wood is like a gentle feet massage, a perfect feeling to start the day. The finishing touch in this room is the dressing with parts in the same Fresco Duna as the floor.
The Home cinema and bar is designed with the Mafi Domino. This wood blends in perfectly with the purpose of this entertainment room. The bar has a build-in fridge and shelves behind faded glass. Above this there’s a floating shelf with RGB LED lights, they point out the life and richness of the Mafi Domino wood. Across this bar there a unique Mafi furniture to separate the bar of the home cinema.
The fine craftsmanship is from Chris Veschaeve Bvba.

Mafi America wrapped up its Los Angeles debut at Dwell on Design, and made a big splash at the West Coast’s most prestigious design event. Noted visitor’s to Mafi’s exhibition were Barbara Lazaroff, interior designer, noted for her branding of the Wolfang Puck restaurants; Janel Tamares of NBC’s LXTV; noted arts consultant Merry Norris; and Louis Stern of Lois Stern Fine Arts.
“Although our artful and sustainable wood floors are already adorning West Coast interiors, the esteem that was garnered at the event will send out a rippling wave of demand. Architect and designers are eagerly awaiting samples and catalogues for their upcoming projects and we are busy responding to requests“, proudly explained our West Coast Director of Sales & Operations, Nic Neumann.

Beyer& Freitag architects equipped this Villa in Leer/GER with 270 square meters Oak Country, brushed oiled white. A very nice detail is the crossover between two rooms without any gaps or metal solutions.
They also used the mafi Oak Country for the stairs with the mafi plank as running-board and solid wood stair noses. This is an easy way to create a very beautiful stair design. The stair noses are available directly from mafi and for the running-board you only have to order the plank. mafi installers may help you to create a very unique way of getting up and down.
Oak Country white oil: Cracks, knotholes and large knots are emphasized with black putty. Colour retention given proper care. Light wood remains permanently light when treated with white Wood Floor Soap as white pigments are worked into the wood every time the floor is damp wiped.
Because of the very natural and vivid surface, just like we get it by nature, the floor is very insensitive against amrks and stains.
If still damaged the Country floors are very easy to repair. As no film forms on the wood, diagonal scratches and damage can be repaired at any time by sanding the affected area. Re-oiling is then carried out only on that area.

The La Rinascente in Palermo/Italy with up to 5 floors is not only a Shopping Center, it is a design shopping center. The La Rinascente is a design show just like no other center because every floor is designed of an other architect. The architects used very special materials for every floor to match the unique brands which are offerd in each of these. Studio CIBIC in Milano designed three floors with total 1040 square meters of the mafi Oak Character, brushed, special grey oiled. This outstanding floor matches the level of very nice design and life style brands that are located there.
mafi floors are most suitable to use in public areas and high frequent areas because they are soo easy to clean. As of their open pores the mafi soap can clean and “refat” the floor which makes the floor more and more resitant with every washing. So the floor will get a patina like no other floor will get. mafi floors will look nicer with every year of use.
