There are only a few sorts of wood, which are that traditional and dignified like an American walnut. The usage of walnut usually ranges from walls and ceilings to exclusive furniture. Of course mafi offers this attractive material also as flooring.  The mafi Walnut USA is one, out of few types of wood, that is not purchased out of the middle of Europe. Anyhow this natural wooden floor fits perfect in this luxurious private house in Greece. The genuine character of the walnut connects with the modern interior to a fashionable but on the other hand comfortable home – definitely a floor like a work of art.

The same counts form a technical perspective. The wooden carpeting of the fireplace and the boundary of the lounge area fit in with the whole interior concept. Giving your private home a base

The own four walls are something special, something individual. To fulfill the dream of a perfect home it is important, that all parts fit together. The ground is the foundation and always a large area, to deal with. mafi natural wooden floors are composed into a room, not installed. As you can see on these pictures, this Ash dark Vulcano, brushed and natural oiled is a breathtaking contrast to the straight black and white characteristic. The direction of the installation, against the incidence of light, allows a beautiful play of colours and expands the room additionally. Another possibility to harmonize the room is to use mafi wooden planks for furniture. Based on the great durability and hardiness, mafi wooden planks can also be used as a surface for working areas in the kitchen.

Vulcano in Austria

The fine dark colour of Vulcano floors is achieved by special heat treatment, which means a wood drying system at high temperatures, without the use of any chemicals, using only heat, wind and water. Expansion and contraction as well as inner tension are reduced, while, on the other hand, resistance to fungi and insects is increased. Dimensional stability is also increased. As the floor stays completely natural with this method, it is also essential to shade it from strong sunlight in order to avoid the colour lightening. Because of its dark tan, the mafi volcano floors are a very good ecological and conscientious alternative to tropical wood.

Material combination with style

A mafi floor is not installed but composed to suit a specific room. This also adds to its individuality – and makes every living space an artistic place. Composing sometimes means dealing with other types of flooring like flagstones for example.

Have a look on this harmonious project with our partner Rebstock in Ditzingen, Germany in a private house. The oak piccolino, brushed and grey oiled, matches perfect to the light grey flagstones in front of the chimney. The seamless changeover between the two flooring materials conforms the quality standards of mafi.

In many countries, like in Austria as well, there is a minimum distance between the fireplace and the wooden floor of 800 mm in front is required by law. Besides the beautiful solution of our partner, mafi has an other fine possibility down pat for this regulation. To protect the wooden floor from smouldering particles the installers had a very innovative and attractive idea. They lowered the wooden floor not only as the same thickness as the glass is but also let the structure of wood running through. So looking from above it seems the plank was never cut. Using only water and heat, Vulcano floors are completely stained in a natural way.

mafi floors, walls and doors in Ski Resort Obertauern/AUT

Outstanding combinations of wooden floors, walls and furniture we recently finished in a marvellous luxurious apartment in Obertauern in the middle of Austrian Alps.

The customers did all the interior design on their own and created a wonderful flair to feel well and relax. They wanted to keep the material mix low. This is why they used mafi Oak Country, brushed and white oiled for the floor the doors some wall coverings. In the bedrooms the furniture out of Oak Vulcano brushed and white oiled to have the same colour balance but still a neat contrast in brightness.

A masterpiece of installation and cabinet work is the detail where the planks on the floor, the door and the wall behind are running through in ONE line. This just looks awesome and is a proof of the love for details of our clients.

Private farm with Oak Country in Puglia/Italy

We got new pictures from our subsidiary mafi Italia of a design farm in Puglia/Italy. For the farm they used the mafi wooden floor Oak Country, brushed white oiled. Additionally the installers made a very neat solution for the stairs, also in mafi material.

There are also very special details in the kitchen in front of the chimney. The floor is protect with the metal material  of the chimney but on the same level as the mafi floor is as well.
This is a perfect example of how important a well skilled installer is for every project. So make sure that you get a your installation done by a mafi certified installer.

Fresco rombo wall design

mafi Fresco rombo gives a wonderful decorative character in a private house in Mexico. On the pictures below you can see that Fresco planks are a ideal design elements for walls. In this private house the architect used the mafi Beech Vulcano Fresco rombo natural oiled for the wall in the living room.

Larch Vulcano in a Loft in New York City

Have a look at this wonderful project in New York City in Tribeca. It is a very beautiful Loft with a very own character. The mafi Larch Vulcano brushed natural oiled appropriates good with the design and the furniture of this Loft. It’s a nice mixture of natural floor and design classics.

Black Tiger Oak in California

In a private residence in California we recently installed a Tiger Oak black colour filler. We are very happy that the Tiger Oak becomes more and more popular also in Amrican Design and Architecture. They just love the combination of naturalness and design.

Showroom Bauscher porcelain with mafi Coral Oak

mafi Coral Oak with CC Custom Colour is now install in a Showroom from Bauscher porcelain Munic/GER. Coral Oak white oiled with the same colour filler as the colour of the porcelain, is a beautiful harmonize combination. The white colour filler blends well with the white oiled Oak and there are some more Coral products where the colours also harmonize very good with the wood. Exactly these combinations are useful for public areas and also for private homes.

Whenever we make projects in showrooms we are very happy because of two reasons. First of all mafi floors, especially Tiger Oaks, Coral Oaks, mafi Carving floors and Fresco floors are like a marketing concept. Shop customers recognize the special floors and spread the word, which often works very well.
Secondly floors in highly frequented areas like showrooms always show very good how durable mafi floors are – also after years of heavy use.
