Grazia Marcarini, an Italian architect, visited mafi one week ago to learn more about the unique natural wooden floors and the philosophy mafi is standing for. Now she sent us some pictures to show her individual point of view of the mafi spirit. We want to say thank you and share this beautiful artworks with you.

Natural Responsibility without Compromise
mafi was the first Company in the Industry to decide for a lacquer-free, completely naturally oiled flooring surface. The Oils used are wholly based on natural raw materials. These natural properties support the wood by preserving and highlighting its natural qualities.

Most of the used raw material is coming from Central Europe. The high quality and ecological growth of trees like the European Maple speak on behalf for this region. The mafi Maple Europe features a light and uniform optics. The sanded surface creates a noble but on the same hand open personality inside the rooms. The time of Salzburg Festival always creates a cosmopolitan and glamorous aura around Salzburg. mafi takes account to this situation and presents one of the newest innovations in natural wood flooring: THE MAFI CATWALK.
Located in the Imbergstraße 9, the mafi flagshipstore exhibits this eye-catcher in its shop window. The design is inspired by the mafi Tiger oak – another innovation introduced by mafi – but the cracks are lighted with a specific LED module. With an included remote control the colours can range from deep red to dark blue or run through different automatic programs as well. These individual possibilities attract outstanding interest for commercial areas like bars, nightclubs or hotels.
This unique floor combines all the attributes mafi stands for. The wood is treated completely natural, only with mafi oil, which gives the floor its great resistance but also keeps the wood breathable and therefore allows the floor to regulate the moisture inside the rooms. On the other hand mafi catwalk proofs the innovative character of the mafi products by unifying technique and design.

It is always a constitutive decision in interior design concepts: The combination between the furniture and the floor concerning style, colour and quality. In this regard the development of the last years has shown that the material mix inside the rooms should be reduced. Furthermore an old design rule of thumb is that only three different colours should be mixed. This information leads us to the right choice of a mafi natural wooden floor. This example shows an Oak Vulcano, brushed and natural oiled. The wood is thermo treated which gives the floor its typical dark appearance. The natural oiling strengths the original grain of the wood visually but gives the floor its great resistance as well. The interaction between the white walls and the dark floor can also be found in the mixture between the black and white furniture – truly a design masterpiece.
Another interesting fact related to this private project in Switzerland is the combination between a mafi Oak Vulcano and tiles made out of marble, also a natural product. mafi natural wooden floors can easily be combined with other floor covering material. Even existing height differences can be cleared because of the variable thickness of our mafi floors.

It is our conviction that wood can only develop its positive features when used and treated as naturally as possible. To get the perfect achievement, it is very important that the flooring is treated in the right way. Once treaded, mafi natural wood floors are extremely robust, hard-wearing and, above all, easy care. In this video you can see the first oiling after the installation. Our basic requirement is that for mafi natural wooden floors only original mafi care products are used.
After the right installation the constant cleaning of mafi floors is very important. The right treatment makes our flooring more robust, healthier, warmer and anti-slip. Even difficult stains, heavy soiled floors or high traffic in commercial areas are no problem at all. Vulcano floors should never be cleaned with a single-disk machine and/or green pad and with mesh, otherwise scratch marks are noticeable.
Last week the Vernissage of Claudia Nebel’s “Run for the Universe” took place at the mafi Flagshipstore in Salzburg. Visitors especially liked the symbiosis of mafi’s slogan “walk on art” and the art project where runners “prepared” the canvas for the artist.

We are happy to announce the next Vernissage at mafi Flagshipstore in Salzburg. We will welcome Caudia Nebel, an Austrian Artist, with her project “Running for the Universe”.
During the Berlin and the Vienna City marathons Claudia Nebel involved over 50000 runners in her project. With their footsteps they left their personal footprint as a preperation for the art project.
After the marathons, Nebel portrated out some of the Runners after finishing the marathon. These 14 unique canvas will be presented ath the Vernissage at the mafi Flagshipstore on 9th of July 2009, 7.30 p.m.
Take the chance and visit the art exhibition “Mirrors” of Maurizio Marcato at mafi Flagshipstore in Salzburg. The exhibition will close on July 1st and makes place for another chance to walk on art.
